Yes, it lacks the positive RS-232 Status feedback of the DVD-1150, so it's your job to make sure that it's powered on and there's a disc in the machine. (Giving a hand-held remote to each visitor would be a bad idea!)

BCDButtons is a Windows program that creates on-screen buttons to control BCD devices (BCD-C7, PC-VCR, VC-16, etc). Commands and button labels are defined in a straightforward text file called bcdbuttons.ini. Free with all BCD Button Controllers Serial output is disabled in the Demo version.

BCD Controllers may be individually addressed from a single serial port. The "DECK 3" command selects machine #3. All subsequent commands go to that machine. We can use a VC-16a to accept button presses, then send discrete commands to individual machines (DVD-C7 players & recorders, VC-16b, VC-16a, and SB-100. Custom BCD programming is often required.
