The BCD VC-16 Controller
Firmware Revision History
Downloadable Hex Files:
These are zipped Intel Hex files for use with Flashbcd.exe.
Use BCDComm.exe to set TYPE, SAVE, and test.
- 8 August 2003 - Version V30806
BCD_VC16a_V30806.ZIP
Added Mitsubishi DVD DD-6040. This Version contains Mitsubishi and generic Sony DVD.
- 17 September 2002 - Version V20711c
V20711CH.zip
NEW in this VERSion: The VC-16 was 'remembering' button presses when buttons were pressed rapidly - kids in a museum punching everything like a video game. Now clears the input buffer each time a key is detected. This version contains code for the Pioneer DVD-7400 only.
- 13 August 2002 - Version V20711b
V20711BH.zip
NEW in this VERSion: the GT10 command for sending numbers Greater than 10, especially the Pioneer DVD-7400. This is the same as the ">10" button on the remote. GT10 is the same as "MODF 69", just easier to remember. BUG FIX: Now sends only valid digits and does not send leading zeros. This version contains code for the Pioneer DVD-7400 only.
- 2 November 2001 - Version V11102
V11102H.zip
NEW in this VERSion: the SAVE command. Previous products (SB-100) lost their memory when powered off. That meant that a computer was REQUIRED to make it operate, or at least set it up. Now, set up the VC-16 with a terminal program (BCDComm or HyperTerm), type SAVE, and the parameters are burned into the flash rom. The only important parameter saved in this version is the TYPE command, but that's imperative for computer-less daily operation in a display setting.

Utilities
These run from the MS-DOS Command Prompt.
- *** BCDComm.zip *** (Get This !)
(about 10K) BCD's small MS-DOS RS-232 terminal program for communication with BCD Controllers, TC-100, AG-25xxC VCR, and just about anything else. Uses the one-line BCD.PRM text file to set the serial port. (This is the same as the 5KECHO.EXE program furnished on some BCD Freedisks).
- Flash Rom Program: FLASHBCD.ZIP, MS-DOS program to update flash ROM. (You could try HyperTerm to upload the hex file to our devices, but we have only had good results at slower speeds like 9600bps. We like to use 38.4Kbps with Flashbcd.)
- PKZip 2.04g (about 200K) Self-extracting .exe file with PKZip & PKUnzip. Use this to uncompress BCD and other 'ZIP' files.
