DVD-1150 Tips
USB Me

You don't always have a serial port available so the DVD-1150 has a USB port that acts like a serial port. Windows® assigns a COM # for each machine.  Each DVD-1150 has a unique ID so you can use a USB hub to operate several machines.  Standard on the DVD-1150.

BCD DVD C7 RS-232 controlled DVD Recorder based on Panasonic DMR-series.jpg

DVD is now a common medium with very UNcommon features.
RS-232 Controlled DVD Recorders! We couldn't resist! We've enhanced video machines to make them computer-controlled since 1980, and DVD makes it even better!  Our flagship is, of course, the industrial DVD-1150 recorder, but   BCD's VC-16 series offers economical control versatility with a variety of IR controlled machines..

It depends on what you want!

  • Industrial DVD Recorder w/RS-232 Control & Full Status Feedback

  • C7 Internal Controller Modification (most popular)
  • VC-16b for IR Machine Control
  • VC-16a for RS-232 or IR Machine Control

Click Here for a discussion about '+R' vs. '-R' recordable DVD discs.  (Hint: We really don't care, but +RW offers some important advanages.)

With the BCD VC16a/b and you have Computer-Controlled DVD recorders with RS-232 control and Wired for Buttons! All remote functions are available via your computer's RS-232 port: STOP, PLAY, and RECS (RECord Start).

Finalize with a Single Command !
"-R" and "+R" discs require finalization before they can be played on ordinary DVD players. To do this on a Panasonic takes 14 keypresses ! Many people use our decks with Crestron and AMX controllers and 14 is a lot of commands to deal with... especially the timing of the commands.

We did it for you with the optional FINL command. Automatically, the BCD VC-16b controller  DVD-C7 controller will cause the disc to be finalized.    The machines vary with their finalization methods so set us know when you order if you need the FINL command.

The FINL command is built-in to the DVD-1150.

Optional Pushbutton Control Most of our DVD recorder clients want RS-232 control and do not require pushbutton (closed-contact) contrl, but pushbutton control is an available option so that any combination of commands may be assigned to any button.

Client Comments
Our clients are a laconic bunch.  We rarely hear from them because our products just work.  When we can pry comments from them, they sound like this:

"Things are great. We are pleased with the product to date."  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

"...Robust RS-232 Interface..."  (Some other machines 'go to sleep' and require physical restart.)

(Pretty boring stuff.  It just works.)
