FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BCD's DVD-1150HDD Records to
Hard Drive Video or DVD
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - May 5, 2008 - BCD Associates, Inc., a leader in DVD Control Systems, has added the DVD-1150HDD with hard drive to its line of industrial DVD recorders. Designed specifically for remote control via RS-232, USB serial and optionally, built-in web server control, the HDD adds extended recording capability.
Hard Drive Recording
Video may be directly recorded to either DVD or to the hard drive. The standard 250GB drive is equivalent to 58 DVDs, giving recording times from 58 hours to 348 hours, depending on the quality selected. Once recorded to the HDD, individual titles may be erased or recorded to DVD disc faster than real time. Titles that are too large to fit on a single DVD are automatically ‘spanned' to two or more discs. The DVD-1150HDD features selection of HDD or DVD via front-panel or RS-232 without drilling through menus.
The secure DVD-1150 is also available with no hard drive.
It's All About Control!
"Many of our clients wanted full status feedback for use with computer control as well as AMX® and Crestron® controllers," said Robert Howard, Vice President of Product Development for BCD Associates. "The DVD-1150HDD provides reliable two-way communication over RS-232 and USB serial ports so the user is assured that when they issue the Record command, the machine really records."
The DVD-1150HDD uses the "BCD1" 4-character command protocol, standard with all BCD products since 1982. ("PLAY<CR>" make it play.) It provides full remote control with complete operational status reporting including current transport mode, frame position, remaining record time, and 15-character title labels. DVD Finalize and Erase are each single remote commands requiring no on-screen menus.
Multi-Machine Control - Built In !
BCD's experience in multiple-machine control makes it easy to operate many DVD-1150HDDs at once. The unit features dual RS-232 connectors for daisy-chain control of up to 100 machines from a single serial port. Each recorder is assigned an address, and machines may be grouped under software control to start recording at the same time.
The DVD-1150HDD occupies 1 rack space and is equipped with a DVD +R/+RW drive, information display, Composite and S-Video I/O, dual DB-9, USB-B connector, and an RJ-45 jack for the optional web server. The DVD-1150HDD is available now at a suggested list price under $2000.
